Zlatan Ibrahimovic Blames The Field During Injury In Milan Vs Juventus
JAKARTA - AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered an injury while helping the team face Juventus. Pioli said, Ibrahimovic said the incident occurred because the field conditions were considered very harsh.
Appearing at the San Siro Stadium on Monday, January 24, Milan had to settle for closing week 23 with one point because the match against Juventus ended in a 0-0 draw.
In that match, Milan was not only unlucky because of the draw but also because one of its players was injured. Ibrahimovic was forced to be pulled out when the game has been running for 28 minutes.
Due to injury, the 40-year-old player was replaced by Olivier Giroud. After the match, Pioli shared the news of Ibrahimovic's condition.
The coach said Ibrahimovic had an Achilles tendon injury. He also stated that the former Barcelona player blamed the San Siro pitch for being too harsh.
"Ibra feels pain in the Achilles tendon, he blames the pitch, which is very hard. So, we hope he can recover as soon as possible in the next few days," Pioli was quoted as saying by Football Italia.
This Achilles injury is not the first time Ibra has suffered, before he also had a similar injury last September, in which the situation forced him to miss six matches in all competitions.
Regardless of Ibrahimovic's circumstances, this draw against Juventus cost Milan a significant point that could see them overtake Inter Milan at the top of the table.
It is currently known that Simone Inzaghi's fleet is in first place in the 2021/2022 Italian League standings with 53 points. While Milan is ranked third with 49 points.
