Formula E Sponsor Is Not Clear, PSI: If You Can't Afford It, Say It
JAKARTA - PT Jakarta Propertindo BUMD admits that until now it has not received confirmation of a sponsor to hold Formula E. Chairman of DKI PSI DPW Michael Victor Sianipar regrets this.
"The information that we have received is that all of the collaborations with sponsors have just been verbal. Nothing is certain yet, the time is running out. Race an electric car in a sack race style," he said, Tuesday, January 25.
Michael admitted that his party was still waiting for a thorough explanation from the organizers. Because, so far, Michael assessed that the implementation did not have proper preparation.
"We are from PSI, waiting for an explanation. We hope that the DKI Jakarta Government is open, if you can't say it, don't force it, then the circuit will crash. The more you delay, the more you panic, it will be a mess," said Michael.
Jakarta DPRD Commission B on Monday, January 24, questioned the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) regarding the plan to organize Formula E which will be held in five months. Jakpro's Director of Business Development, Gunung Kartiko, explained that the implementation of the Formula requires a cost of Rp. 150 billion. Part of the budget has been used to purchase equipment for the construction needs of the track. "The total track construction fund is around Rp. 150 billion. Some of it, around Rp. 70 billion, has been used to buy track equipment since 2019," said Gunung at the DKI DPRD building.
The DPRD again asked about Jakpro's plan to cover the costs for the implementation. Gunung replied that this fund would be obtained from the sponsor. However, Gunung admitted that currently the sponsorship funds to cover the lack of costs for the Formula E event had not yet entered. He said, no sponsorship agreement has been officially made. "We will close the plan from sponsorship and partnership. So, we haven't officially opened sponsorship yet. here, because there is no black on white yet," explained Gunung.
