To LPPOM-MUI, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin Asks For Halal Certification Of MSME Products To Be Facilitated

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin requested that the provision of halal labeling through halal certification for products of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) be made easier. Among others, through the Institute for the Study of Food, Drugs and Cosmetics of the Indonesian Ulema Council (LPPOM-MUI).

"As a pioneer of the Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) in Indonesia, LPPOM-MUI needs to continue to support efforts to expand and accelerate the halal certification process, especially for MSMEs in the food and beverage sector," said the Vice President at the 33rd LPPOM-MUI Tasyakur Milad event via video conference. from the vice president's official residence in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, January 25.

The vice president also asked LPPOM-MUI to continue to be the spearhead in the inspection and testing process related to product halalness.

In addition, the presence of LPPOM-MUI representatives in several countries can also strengthen Indonesia's existence as part of the global halal industry supply chain, the Vice President hoped.

"Strengthening the halal industry ecosystem must continue to be carried out, especially to increase the capacity and quality of the halal product industry, so that it will increasingly provide added value to the Indonesian economy," he explained.

The Vice President appreciated the role of LPPOM-MUI in providing halal certification in Indonesia, including through the Free Halal Certification program or Sehati which resulted in halal certificates for 644 micro and small businesses (UMK).

"Thank you to LPPOM-MUI for taking an active role in the Free Halal Certification program, Healthy, for MSEs, and through the holding of the Syawal Festival which succeeded in scoring 644 MSEs with halal certification," he said.

In the crisis situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vice President hopes that the halal certification process will not be hampered by using the Modified On-Site Audit (MOSA) system to accelerate the certification.

"This is an online halal certification service, especially for products that are simple and do not have a high halal critical level," he said.

The vice president again reminded that the provision of halal labels is very important in order to give confidence to the public that these products have guaranteed quality, are safe and in accordance with the Shari'a, as well as add value to product competitiveness.
