DKI Adds 1,800 Medical Personnel To Handle COVID-19, Salaries IDR 4.5-15 Million

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Widyastuti, said there would be an additional 1,800 medical personnel recruited to handle COVID-19 patients.

"We are recruiting (medical personnel). Later, next week there will be 1,800 workers ready (to handle COVID-19 patients)," Widyastuti told reporters, Wednesday, September 2.

Widyastuti said that the medical personnel recruited ranged from specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses, to other supporting staff.

Widyastuti stated that his party would place some medical personnel in all regional public hospitals (RSUD) that handle COVID-19.

Meanwhile, in private hospitals, the Health Office is waiting for the hospital that proposes the medical personnel's assistance.

"Currently, we are processing it to the RSUD and several hospitals that are actively requesting. Not all hospitals are asking for additional personnel because some have already had human resources ready. Well, we certainly did not send that one," explained Widyastuti.

Widyastuti said the reason for his party to increase the number of medical personnel was because the DKI Provincial Government was increasing the capacity of the intensive care unit (ICU) specifically for corona virus patients, as well as reducing the workload of medical personnel at this time.

"So, when we increase the capacity of the ICU, not only the equipment, but also the health workers. On the one hand, we want to fill in what we want to develop, and on the other hand we want to create a safer work shift system," he said.

Some time ago, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government opened a number of job vacancies for health workers specifically handling COVID-19. This health worker has a work contract period starting from September to December 2020 and can be extended.

The amount of salary offered to specialist doctor applicants is IDR 15 million per month, general practitioner IDR 10 million per month, nurse IDR 7.5 million per month. Then health support personnel Rp. 5 million per month, and other supporting personnel Rp. 4.2 million per month.

"Unit salary costs are the highest limit that cannot be exceeded and are adjusted to the level of risk exposure," said DKI Regional Secretary Saefullah in his statement.

The placement of COVID-19 countermeasures professionals includes the DKI Health Office, hospitals, community health centers, COVID-19 inspection laboratory networks, and emergency ambulances in the DKI Provincial Government.
