Victim's Family Calls Elderly Body Accused Of Stealing Car Thrown With Crackers By Perpetrators

JAKARTA - The family of Wiyanto Halim (89), an elderly person who died tragically on Pulo Kambing Street, Pulogadung, East Jakarta, hopes that the police will investigate the motive for the beating that caused the death. This was conveyed by the attorney for the victim's family, Freddy Y Patty.

"Look for the intellectual actor behind this murder. Because the family believes, this incident is not an ordinary beating. But it is a premeditated murder in a very heinous way," said Freddy, when contacted, Tuesday, January 25, morning.

Suspicions about the premeditated murder began to emerge when the victim's child Virsha Syahriena made a police report number LP/B/182/I/2022/SPKT/RES.JAKTIM/PMJ on January 23, 2022 at the East Jakarta Metro Police.

During the process of making the police report, continued Freddy, Virsha, the victim's child and his family, received various information from relatives and social media about the incident.

Freddy said, the family suspects that the incident that caused Wiyanto Halim to die was not a spontaneous beating, there was an engineering reasoning as shown in the pictures and videos that are clearly visible.

"There are people who serve as provocateurs, shouting as if Wiyanto Halim is the perpetrator of the car theft. There are people who are in charge of making video recordings and spreading them on social media and making an opinion that Wiyanto Halim's death occurred because of a mob," he said.

Then, Freddy said, another oddity was that there was a person riding a motorbike at the back who was tasked with inviting people who were hanging out on the side of the road to catch up with the car driven by Wiyanto Halim.

There was even a police patrol car that followed and fired shots at Wiyanto Halim's car, right at the crossroads leading to the Pulogadung Industrial area, so the victim's car was stopped.

"When the car stopped, several pursuers immediately damaged the car and forcibly pulled the victim out of the car and attacked with stones, helmets and wood so that the victim's head Wiyanto Halim broke in several parts and caused death," said Freddy.

In fact, he continued, when the victim had died, the bodies were still shouted at and forced to eat crackers by the perpetrators.

"It's a barbaric act, those who have actually died are still treated like that," he said.

As previously reported, Sunday, January 23, in the early hours of the morning, a group of youths using motorbikes on Jalan Pulo Kambing, Pulogadung, East Jakarta chased a Toyota Rush car with number B 1859 SYL driven by Wiyanto Halim (89). Wiyanto was shouted at by car thieves.

In the video circulating on social media, it can be seen that a police patrol car is also chasing Wiyanto. After the car could be stopped, the group of youths carried out the persecution until the 89-year-old grandfather died.

East Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKBP Ahsanul Muqaffi said the victim was not a car thief. The victim had previously hit a motorbike and was shouted at by a thief by provocateurs. Wiyanto is also the owner of the Toyota Rush.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Pol Endra Zulpan said, as many as 14 people were examined in the incident, and 4 people have been named suspects. Inspection is still ongoing.
