Five Debt Collectors Beaten To Death In Tangerang Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison

TANGERANG - Five residents of Tangerang City, with the initials A, EB, MS, A and SNM were found guilty in the Tangerang District Court (PN), because they were proven to have ganged up on one debt collector, causing the death of one debt collector.

DR as the family of the defendant explained the incident that took place on April 8, 2021 in the Cipondoh area, Tangerang City. According to DR, the beating occurred due to the arrogance of two debt collectors, W and H.

"Initially, we came to Mr. EA's house, our family. They (the debt collector) said they wanted to collect the debt, but everyone in the house was threatened, even though they said Mr. EA was not there," said DR at the Tangerang District Court, Monday, January 24.

DR said that not only did they threaten, the two debt collectors also did damage.

"They are also nervous. Then they go to the father's warehouse (EA)," he said.

Not only that, the two debt collectors also carried out the same terror in EA's warehouse. There was even tension at that location.

"One of the debt collectors was carrying a knife, and maybe because he was busy and wanted to defend himself, there was a beating. We have handed over the knife belonging to the debt collector to the police," explained DR.

However, due to serious injuries in the beating, one of the debt collectors, W, eventually died in hospital.

"We also took the victim to the hospital. But it couldn't be helped," he said.

The chairman of the panel of judges at the Tangerang District Court, Fathul Mujib, read out the verdict for the five defendants.

"Stating that the five people have been legally proven to have committed a crime openly which has caused death. The defendant is required to be in prison for 4 years and is set to be in the detention room," he explained.

In this trial the court also confirmed that there was a knife that was brought by victim W in collecting the bill.

"The victim took a knife on the left side of the waist," he said.
