Persebaya Has Not Determined Home Stadium, Until When?

JAKARTA - Liga 1 season 2020 will take place from October 1, 2020 to February 28, 2021. However, Persebaya is the only club - out of a total of 18 clubs - that have not yet decided on their home stadium.

Persebaya actually lives at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya. However, the stadium is currently under renovation as it will be used at the 2021 U-20 World Cup.

The squad nicknamed Bajul Ijo is rumored to be choosing Gelora Delta Stadium in Sidoarjo as a home stadium during the 2020 League 1 continuation although there has been no official news about this.

Coach Aji Santoso's team has used the stadium with a capacity of up to 35,000 people to train ahead of the start of the competition.

All League 1 2020 matches will be held on Java Island. By concentrating there, teams will move around by land transportation to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The competition continues for the full season but without relegation.

Meanwhile, Operational Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Sudjarno said that Persebaya will determine its headquarters during the continuation of the Indonesian League 1 2020 in the next one to two days.

"Persebaya will determine it in the near future. Maybe in one to two days there will be a decision. We have met with Persebaya in Surabaya when we visited there on Monday (August 31)," said Sudjarno as quoted by Antara, Tuesday.
