2 G20 Agenda Moved To Jakarta, Deputy Governor Of DKI Hopes Floods And Omicron Can Be Controlled
JAKARTA - The government is known to have decided to move two important agendas for the physical G20 meeting from Bali to Jakarta because it anticipates the spread of the Omicron variant of the COVID-19 case, which is currently increasing.
Responding to this, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria hoped that the G20 activities would not be disrupted by floods that often inundate the capital during extreme rains.
"In terms of flooding, there was an increase in January-February, but God willing, we can handle the flood, we will control it, it will not interfere with the G20 activities which are planned to be moved from Bali to Jakarta," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Monday, January 24.
Likewise with the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. Riza hopes that the DKI Provincial Government can reduce the number of Omicron distributions during the G20 event. Although, currently there have been 1,584 cases of Omicron in Jakarta.
"So is the Omicron variant, even according to some experts, Mr. Luhut also conveyed, the peak was in February. But God willing, we can overcome and control it. Even if there is Omicron, it will not interfere with the G20," he said.
For information, the agenda for the 2nd FCBD and 1st FMCBG meetings was originally scheduled to be held on February 15-18, on the Island of the Gods. However, due to the current development of COVID-19, the two agendas were moved to Jakarta.
However, it is not known for certain whether the event in Jakarta will take the same time period as before in Bali or there will be a shift in the date of the event.
"Considering the development of COVID-19 at the global and national levels, especially from the Omicron variant which has a very high level of spread and considering the results of the G20 delegates' in person survey, it is hereby notified that the 2nd FCBD and 1st FMCBG will be moved from Bali to Jakarta. ” said Secretary I of the G20 Meeting for Logistics, Rudy Rahmayadi in his statement.
The 2nd FCBD and 1st FMCBG events are forums that are included in the Finance Track category, which were initiated by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Bank Indonesia.
