BANYUWANGI – A member of the Banyuwangi Police, East Java with the initials R who is involved in a drug abuse case is subject to a code of ethics sanction in the form of delaying promotion and education. In addition, the police officer with the rank of Bripka also had to undergo a period of 6 months of rehabilitation.

Head of Propam Banyuwangi Police, Ipda Akrianto said that the internal or disciplinary hearing was carried out after the individual had undergone a criminal trial.

The disciplinary hearing is said to see the level of wrongdoing by the individual. Sanctions for postponement in the form of postponement of promotion and education are given for a period of one year.

"All members of the National Police involved in the case must undergo a disciplinary hearing which is carried out internally, one of which is a member who is involved in the abuse of narcotics. There is a delay, so that R cannot take education and promotion for a year," he said, Monday, January 24.

Akrianto added that the sanction was officially decided after the decision from the Banyuwangi District Court (PN) was signed or had legal force. Currently, the case is still being appealed by the public prosecutor (JPU).

"So R will undergo after the results of the appeal are out of the Surabaya High Court," he said.

For information, the Bripka police officer with the initials R (38) was caught doing a crystal meth party with two colleagues, namely MH (54) the head of Watukebo village, Wongsorejo and WW (40), a fried shrimp businessman, from Bajulmati Village, Wongsorejo.

The Banyuwangi District Court Judges sentenced a police officer, a village head (kades) and a businessman in a drug case. The three defendants were sentenced to six months of rehabilitation.
