KKB Terror Kills Sergeant Miskael Rumbiak Hurts The Hearts Of Biak Papuans, Tribal Chief Asks Residents To Support TNI-Polri

PAPUA - Biak traditional leaders together with representatives of cultural institutions in West Papua Province hope that the peace and security of the region is guaranteed from various terrors by armed criminal groups (KKB). The KKB terror has clearly hindered development in Papua.

The head of the Biak tribe in the West Papua Province, Mananwir Hengky Korwa, said that the brutality of the armed groups in Maybrat was not part of the culture of the indigenous Papuans.

He hopes that the series of attacks on security officers that killed Sertu Posthumously Miskel Rumbiak, a native Papuan son on January 20, will no longer happen. This action injured all Biak residents in Papua.

"Especially for Biak residents in the West Papua region to stay calm, not easily provoked, we together fully support law enforcement steps by the TNI-Polri apparatus to arrest the perpetrators," said Mananwir Hengky Korwa by telephone, Antara, Monday, January 24.

Furthermore, Semuel Kambuaya, the representative of the Maybrat indigenous people at the cultural institution of the West Papuan People's Council (MRPB) encouraged a peaceful dialogue as a solution to resolve the armed conflict in his area of origin.

He stated that the heinous killings that took place in the Maybrat Regency area targeted posts belonging to the security forces, not the culture of the indigenous people of Maybrat.

"I need to clarify this part, that the native Maybrat loves peace and lives a loving life as taught by our ancestors," said Kambuaya.

He also appealed to the indigenous people of the Maybrat district to remain calm, fully hand over the events of Kisor 2 September 2021 and East Aifat 20 January 2022 to law enforcement officials.

"There have been two attacks and shootings in our traditional area that have claimed lives. We ask that this must be stopped and let our area be safe and peaceful as usual," hoped Samuel Kambuaya.
