Sad That Only Rp1 Million Per Month Is Paid, Minister Of Religion Yaqut Strives For Honorarium For Non-PNS Religious Counselors Equal To UMP

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion is seeking for non-civil servant (non-PNS) religious instructors to receive an honorarium equal to the provincial or district/city minimum wage.

"Currently the Ministry of Religion through the Directorate General of Islamic Guidance is seeking to fulfill the honorarium by proposing an additional budget for non-civil servant extension workers to have a minimum wage standard for provincial and city districts," said Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas during a working meeting with Commission VIII DPR RI, which was attended from Jakarta. , Between, Monday, January 24.

Currently, non-PNS religious instructors only receive an honorarium of around one million rupiah per month. This figure is not commensurate with the duties and functions of those who are in direct contact with the community. Moreover, he said, religious instructors have a strategic role in strengthening religious life.

"Of course (the Rp1 million honorarium, ed.) is still far from meeting the needs, plus the workload that is his responsibility is quite a lot," he said.

If religious instructors are given an adequate honorarium, they will be motivated to continue to improve their performance and assist the Ministry of Religion in realizing a program to strengthen religious moderation.

"It is hoped that their performance will continue to be improved for the realization of the 2020-2024 National RPJMN achievements, especially the program to strengthen religious moderation," he said.
