Participants In The Convoy Of Luxury Cars On The Andara Toll Road Admit They Were Reprimanded By Officers

JAKARTA - Akbar Rais, one of the participants in the convoy that went viral on social media for causing traffic jams, stated that the reason the Highway Patrol (PJR) officer reprimanded him was not because of the convoy. Instead, he did not have a permit when making videos on the Andara toll road.

"Yes, because I don't have permission to take pictures on toll roads," Akbar told reporters at the Metro Jaya Police, Monday, January 24.

For that reason, their convoy of vehicles was stopped by the Andara toll road manager by slowing down first.

Then, toll managers contacted the Highway Patrol (PJR) officers to stop their convoy.

"Immediately, the toll road manager contacted PJR to reprimand us," said Akbar.

Apart from that, Akbar emphasized that he did not know the need for special permission. Moreover, the convoy activities were not prepared beforehand.

"If you say it's not a permit, if we are authorized for official events, we often go on tours out of town and so on," he said.

Previously, the Head of Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Kompol Sutikno, stated that the convoy of luxury cars caused traffic jams on the Andara toll road on Sunday, January 23.

The convoy's activities were detected based on CCTV camera monitoring. They are observed taking pictures so that they become the attention of other motorists and end up in traffic jams

"If all the toll roads have CCTV, it looks like there are lots of people taking pictures of teenagers in luxury cars. So people's attention, people move aside," he said.

Allegedly, the riders were taking pictures and making videos for personal use. They are called creating content which will later be uploaded to their respective social media.

"It's like making content," said Sutikno.
