At Polda Metro Akbar Rais Denies Creating Congestion On Andara Toll Road: The Officer Who Slows Down

JAKARTA - Akbar Rais, the driver who went viral because the convoy on the Andara toll road, denied that his activities caused traffic jams. According to him, the traffic jam was caused by the toll road officials slowing down his convoy of cars.

"Toll officials are slowing down," said Akbar at the Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, January 24.

Akbar said, the way the toll officers slowed down the convoy was by driving right at the very front. Then, toll officials gradually reduce speed. This is what causes traffic jams.

"We don't cause traffic jams if we don't stop," said Akbar.

"Well, because we stopped, the back couldn't walk," he continued.

Apart from that, Akbar also emphasized that the congestion caused was not too severe. Because it was quiet at that time.

Moreover, the Andara toll road is not as busy as other toll roads. It is estimated that only 5 to 10 vehicles lined up.

"It was Sunday at 10.00 WIB, the Andara toll road was not as busy as other toll roads," said Akbar. Previously, the Head of the Highway Police Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Sutikno said the traffic jam occurred on the Andara toll road section KM 02+400. At least more than seven luxury cars involved in the convoy.

"More than seven (luxury cars, red)," said Sutikno when confirmed, Monday, January 24.

The convoy's activities were detected based on CCTV camera monitoring. They are observed taking pictures so that they become the attention of other motorists and end up in traffic jams

"If all the toll roads have CCTV, it looks like there are lots of people taking pictures of teenagers in luxury cars. So people's attention, people move aside," he said.

Allegedly, the riders were taking pictures and making videos for personal gain. They are called to create content which will later be uploaded to their respective social media.

"It's like making content," said Sutikno.
