The Status Of The Suspect Anita Kolopaking Is The Reason For Her Protection Application Being Rejected By LPSK
JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) rejected the protection request submitted by Djoko Tjandra's lawyer, Anita Kolopaking (AK). The reason was that the request submitted by Anita Kolopaking did not meet the requirements.
"Before the decision was made, LPSK had also coordinated with various parties, especially the Police and the Attorney General's Office," said LPSK Chairman Hasto Atmojo Suroyo in a written statement reported by Antara, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 1.
LPSK is of the opinion that Anita's application for protection does not meet the requirements as regulated in Article 28 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Witness and Victim Protection.
Anita's suspect status is also one of the reasons behind the decision to reject the application, so the LPSK thinks there is no basis for providing protection to him. In addition, there were other information or data that Anita did not fully convey to the LPSK.
However, said Hasto, LPSK issued recommendations regarding the handling of the Anita Kolopaking case. Among them are asking the National Police and the Attorney General's Office to be professional and proportionate in handling cases related to Djoko Tjandra.
In addition, LPSK also asked investigators at the Police and the Attorney General's Office to encourage protection for witnesses and perpetrator witnesses (justice collaborators) to LPSK.
This is because, according to Hasto, his party will not close the door if in the future there are developments in the handling of cases related to the Djoko Tjandra case.
Including the possibility of Anita fulfilling the requirements to be given protection either in her status as a witness or possibly as a witness to the perpetrator in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.
For information, LPSK received a protection application letter dated 29 July 2020 in the name of Anita Kolopaking at the time she submitted a protection application to the LPSK.
At that time, Anita's legal status was as a witness in the case that brought in Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo. Later, Bareskrim Polri named Anita Kolopaking a suspect on August 8, 2020.
