COVID-19 Cases Raised 32.9 Percent In A Week, West Java Raised 100 Percent
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito explained the development of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past week. According to him, within a week the number of COVID-19 cases increased to 32.9 percent.
"Nationally, we can see that the number of positive cases has increased by 32.9 percent," Wiku said in a press conference broadcast on YouTube to the Presidential Secretariat, Tuesday, September 1.
According to him, the increase in the national figure was contributed by five regions that experienced the highest increase in cases in the past week. One of them is West Java.
"West Java has increased by more than 100 percent from 707 cases to 1,681 cases," he said.
Furthermore, Central Java experienced an increase of 56.4 percent with total cases from 837 cases to 1,039 cases and East Kalimantan up 39.2 percent from 732 cases to 1,019 cases.
In the next sequence, DKI Jakarta experienced a 36.9 percent increase in cases from the previous week from 4,067 cases to 5,568 cases and East Java increased by 20.8 percent from 2,401 to 2,901 cases.
"These are things that need the attention of all parties. Especially from the five regions that we have mentioned. This must be suppressed by continuing to carry out massive testing but positive cases must also be suppressed," said Wiku.
Meanwhile, for weekly death cases, in the last week there was an increase of 24.4 percent and Bengkulu Province experienced the highest increase with 7.29 percent.
The regions that experienced an increase in COVID-19 patients who died were Central Java 7.18 percent; East Java 7.07 percent, West Nusa Tenggara 5.76 percent; and South Sumatra 5.68 percent.
"All of this is above the national average percentage of deaths," he said.
Meanwhile, the national recovery rate in this week reached 72.8 percent. Wiku said this figure was very good because it was above the global recovery average of 69.97 percent.
Central Sulawesi, continued Wiku, is one of the provinces where the percentage of recovery reaches 90.87 percent. Next are the Bangka Belitung Islands 90.79 percent; East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) 88.14 percent; Gorontalo 86.87 percent; and Bali 85.76 percent.
"This is a high percentage of recovery in Indonesia and raises the national average," he concluded.
