Criticized By Yoo Yeon Seok And Taeyeon, Drama The King Of Tears, Lee Bang Won Doesn't Air For 2 Weeks
JAKARTA - The KBS party apologized for the shooting of the Korean drama The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won which endangered a horse. This scene was done to complement the use of CGI.
This scene is told by Lee Bang Won's father, Lee Sung Gye, who is riding a horse and falls. It turned out that the horse he was riding had been tied with a rope and tripped on purpose.
This behind-the-scenes video has angered netizens as well as public figures. Actor Yoo Yeon Seok uploaded a photo of the scene and asked for the safety of the actors on the set.
“There should be no more scenes where animals are killed for money and time. The safety of stunt actors must also be guaranteed," said Yoo Yeon Seok.
Singer Taeyeon also expressed her disappointment when watching the video and she even cried.
“The videos are so painful to watch and bring tears to my eyes. This makes me angry. How can they shoot like this… this is a terrible thing for animals and humans. Has anyone seen the condition of the horse firsthand? Who came up with the idea for a shoot like this?” Taeyeon wrote via Instagram.
Meanwhile, the Korean Animal Welfare Association or KAWA conducted an investigation behind the scenes. They said the horse was made to curl up so there was a possibility of serious physical injury.
KBS also released an apology for the controversy of The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won. The horse used for filming was declared dead a week after filming.
"We apologize for not being able to prevent this from happening. KBS realized that there was an error with the shooting of the scene. We will look for other ways to take other pictures," KBS said.
The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won will also not be airing for two weeks. The episode showing the horse scene was also removed from the streaming service.
