Shin Tae-yong's Cold Comments After Haruna's Criticism, AFF Cup Runner-up Is On Par With The Previous Coach

JAKARTA - The coach of the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, gave a cold response after a recent criticism by a member of Exco PSSI, Haruna Sumitro. The South Korean coach was apparently reluctant to bother.

Previously, it was reported that Shin Tae-yong was offended by Haruna's case. In which, the former Madura United manager said that the AFF Cup 2020 runner-up achievement was equivalent to the previous coaches.

Haruna's comments invited reactions from many parties, including from PSSI. From the supporters' camp, they want Haruna to leave the PSSI Exco bench.

However, quoted from the Korean media Isplus, Sunday, January 23, Shin Tae-yong chose to be cold when asked about the conflict with Haruna Sumitro.

"I'm not in a good mood, but I won't say anything special," said Shin Tae-yong.

Regarding the amount of public support and also Indonesian fans for him after the criticism. This year's 51-year-old coach said he was grateful.

"I just want to thank the fans for knowing that our team is working hard and supporting us," said Shin Tae-yong.

Despite his criticism and cold response, Shin Tae-yong has a contract until 2023 with the Indonesian national team since agreeing to cooperate in 2019. At that time the Garuda squad played in the U-20 World Cup.

Since 2019, Shin Tae Yong has made the runner-up achievement of the 2020 AFF Cup for the Indonesian national team, which is inhabited by young players. This achievement could be increased at the AFF U-23 Cup in Cambodia, next February, considering that a number of Indonesian rivals use players under the U-23.
