Megawati Soekarnoputri 75th Birthday, PDIP Cadres Give Gifts Through Caring For The Motherland Movement
JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri's 75th birthday today or Sunday, January 23. As a gift, the party cadre bearing the symbol of a bull then took action to plant trees and reforest simultaneously throughout Indonesia.
PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said planting trees and cleaning rivers which his party cadres simultaneously carried out was called 'Caring for the Motherland'. This activity is carried out throughout Indonesia, including in Bali.
"On this anniversary, all party members and cadres gave gifts in the form of the Caring for the Motherland movement, a movement to care for the environment, clean rivers, plant trees and make the environment more beautiful," said Hasto while planting mangrove trees in Buleleng Regency, Bali, Sunday, January 23.
"This movement is carried out simultaneously throughout Indonesia, including in Bali by planting mangrove trees and cypress shrimp," he added.
Furthermore, Hasto said that today is indeed the birthday of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia. Megawati was born at the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace where the Special Region (DI) of Yogyakarta is the nation's capital.
He said Megawati was born in the midst of the revolutionary struggle to defend Indonesia's independence. Not only that, Megawati was also trained in the fire of revolution so that she has the fire of fighting spirit.
"She was also trained in the fire of the revolution. Because of that, Mrs. Mega has a fighting spirit like a fire that never goes out. At the same time, Mrs. Mega is also known as a person who firmly adheres to principles, with a passion for her love for the homeland that is so high, and holds fast to on political beliefs based on Pancasila," said Hasto.
Not only that, Hasto revealed that Megawati also has a love for the homeland and loves the earth through caring for plants. He gave an example, Megawati has a very complete collection of plants, from perennials, bamboos, to tubers, along with flower collections throughout the archipelago.
"Mother Mega's love for plants continues to be built into the Party's culture so that every Party cadre truly has a love for plants and the environment," said Hasto.
Hasto also prayed that the Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Research and Innovation Agency would always be given health and a long life. "And the leadership of Mrs. Megawati has always been an inspiration not only for the PDI-P, but also for the Indonesian people and the world," he concluded.
