IDAI Piprim Chair Basarah Yanuarso Invites All Parties To Encourage COVID-19 Vaccination For Children
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) Dr. Piprim Basarah Yanuarso encourages the public to participate in efforts to resolve the pandemic, one of which is by vaccinating children, ensuring that vaccines have a historical track record of successfully suppressing the number of other diseases previously.
He conveyed this in a virtual discussion held by IDAI on Saturday, January 22. He said that vaccination has a long history and has succeeded in reducing the number of cases of deadly and disabling diseases such as polio.
"One of the most brilliant findings or achievements of the medical world is this vaccination, because the difference is very far before and after the vaccine is found," said Piprim at the IDAI Media Seminar on the COVID-19 vaccine in children, followed in Jakarta, Saturday, January 22.
"This COVID-19 vaccine is not much different from the existing vaccines," he added.
He encouraged the press to contribute to the COVID-19 vaccination program, including those targeting children. This is because of the large role of the media in supporting the vaccination program, because it is impossible for only IDAI, ITAGI, or the Ministry of Health to do this.
"We need the participation of all people in order to resolve this pandemic so that it can soon pass in our country," he stressed.
On that occasion he also ensured that IDAI had not changed its recommendations regarding face-to-face learning (PTM). One important factor is getting the full dose.
But not only about vaccines, he also emphasized that health protocols still need to be carried out strictly to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
"We really regret that there are many schools which were closed when the COVID-19 cases increased again and PPKM became level two, we should not open 100 percent PTM. So the options offered by IDAI should indeed be considered again, maybe the hybrid option is also an option the best," said Piprim Basarah Yanuarso.
