The Jihandak Team Of The East Java Police Evacuates Grenades From Near Pamekasan Islamic Elementary School, There Are Residents Who Have Touched Their Feet
JAKARTA - The East Java Police Explosives Disposal Team (Jhandak) evacuated a grenade found by residents near the Al-Munawwarah Islamic Elementary School (SDI), Pamekasan, on January 20, 2022 and immediately detonated it.
"The evacuation was around 16.30 WIB, Thursday (20/1) afternoon, but the explosion was held today at the Mako Brimob shooting range at the East Java Police on Jalan Raya Nyalaran," said Head of the Public Relations Subsection of the Pamekasan Police AKP Nining Dyah in Pamekasan, Friday, January 21.
The pineapple grenade was found near SDI Al-Munawwarah on Jalan Brawijaya Number 1, Jungcangcang Village, Pamekasan, by a resident named Usman (50), a resident of Nyalabu Village, Pamekasan District, on Thursday, January 20 yesterday at 11.15 WIB.
The man, who sells children's toys in front of the school, immediately reported the findings to the school's Security Unit (Satpam), and continued to the Pamekasan City Police Headquarters.
Usman even touched the grenade with his right foot, and some residents even moved it to an empty house on Jalan Brawijaya, Pamekasan.
According to the Head of Public Relations of the Pamekasan Police, AKP Nining Dyah, based on the results of the investigation by the Jihandak Brimob team of the East Java Police, the grenade is still active.
"The plan was that it was going to be detonated yesterday, but due to the unfavorable situation, there was heavy rain and strong winds, it was detonated today," he said as quoted by Antara.
According to the records of the Pamekasan Police, the discovery of a grenade near SDI Al-Munawwarah, Jungcangcang Village, Pamekasan on January 20, 2022, was the second time in the past 13 years.
On January 21, 2009, a farmer named Suheby (42), a resident of Maddis Hamlet, Pamoroh Village, Kadur District, Pamekasan, found an active grenade while hoeing his rice field where he was about to plant corn.
Based on historical studies, the discovery of grenades in Pamoroh, Kadur was, because that location at that time had indeed become a battle ground for Pamekasan fighters to expel invaders from Pamekasan land.
"The discovery of the grenade in Jungcangcang Pamekasan has nothing to do with colonialism, and is still under our study," said Head of the Public Relations Subsection of the Pamekasan Police AKP Nining Dyah.
