Comparing 2016 And 2022 Satellite Imagery, Walhi Estimates Loss Of Reclamation Of Lake Singkarak, West Sumatra Rp. 3.3 Billion

W Sumatra - The WALHI for the Environment (Walhi) of W Sumatra assessed that the potential loss due to reclamation without a permit at the Jorong Kalukua pier, Nagari Singkarak, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, reached Rp. 3.3 billion.

The head of the West Sumatra Walhi Advocacy and Campaign Studies Department, Tommy Adam, said that the potential was studied by Walhi by comparing satellite imagery in the area in 2016 with 2022.

A total of 2,976 square meters of the lake have been reclaimed without a permit and the potential loss is in the form of ecological losses, which consist of the cost of revitalizing the water system function of Rp. 1.2 billion, the cost of regulating the water system of Rp. 6.7 million, and the cost of controlling erosion of Rp. 1.7 million.

Then the cost of forming the soil is Rp. 148,000, the nutrient recycling monastery is Rp. 1.3 million and the cost of the function of decomposing waste is Rp. 128,000. After that, the economic cost in the form of loss of land use life is IDR 952,320,000.

Then the environmental cost which consists of the cost of restoring the water system function is Rp. 1.2 billion. The cost of restoring the water system is Rp. 6.7 million, the cost of erosion control is Rp. 1.7 million, the cost of restoring soil formation is Rp. 148,000, the cost of restoring the nutrient recycler is Rp. 1.3 million and the cost of restoring the function of decomposing waste is Rp. 128,000.

"The total potential loss to the state based on our study through Ministerial Regulation No. 7 concerning Compensation for Pollution and environmental damage, Law 17 2003 concerning state finances and Law No. 1/2004 concerning the state treasury reached Rp. 3.3 billion," he said in an online discussion. with the KPK and the West Sumatra Provincial Government, Antara, Friday, January 21.

This reclamation has been carried out since July 2016 by PT Kaluku Indah Permai with an area of about 30-50 meters of stockpiled lake and a length of 70-100 meters.

The development is not in accordance with the Solok Regency Regional Regulation 1/2013 concerning the Solok Regency Spatial Planning in 20212-2031

"Walhi recommends stopping PT KIP's activities, checking the company's administration, calculating regional material losses, and making efforts to repair the environmental damage of Lake Singkarak," he said.

Meanwhile, the West Sumatra Provincial Secretary, Hansastri, said that reclamation activities had existed since 2016 and the West Sumatra Provincial Government had taken steps related to it.

"We ordered the immediate termination of the activity at this time and indeed it is appearing again at this time. We make sure that the activity does not have a permit from the West Sumatra Provincial Government," he said.
