Minister Of Health: Beware Of Transmission Of The Omicron Variant Of COVID-19 That Spreads Fast

BANTUL - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin reminded all parties to be aware of the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 which has entered the country because of its rapid spread.

"Omicron has entered Indonesia, and there has also been local transmission, so it's not just imports, and throughout the world, Omicron is characterized by a fast, high rise," said the Minister of Health after reviewing the COVID-19 vaccination in Sumbermulyo Village, Bantul Regency. , Yogyakarta Special Region reported by Antara, Friday, January 21.

The Minister of Health said that because the new variant of COVID-19 had entered Indonesia, all elements of the community, government and relevant stakeholders had to be prepared so that the transmission of cases did not occur so quickly.

"We have to be prepared, because it goes up fast, it goes up high, but friends, you don't have to panic, you don't have to worry, we are still vigilant and careful, because even though the rise is fast and the rise is high, the descent is also fast," he said.

The Minister of Health said, based on observations in other countries, the peak of transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 was until the 40th day, so there is a possibility that in Indonesia from late February to early March it would have reached its peak.

"We have to fight until the end of February until the beginning of March, and I came here as an effort so that we are ready to fight together," he said.

The minister said that what must be done is disciplined health protocols, mainly wearing masks, avoiding crowds, maintaining distance. Then medical examinations will continue to be carried out, so that those who are exposed can be immediately isolated and cured.

"So you don't have to be afraid if you get tested, the results will go up, it's okay, just isolate yourself, because it will heal quickly, so as long as we know quickly, then isolate it so it doesn't spread, if the house is big, you can isolate it at home, if not, in centralized isolation or In the shelter, God willing, many will recover," he said.

The Minister of Health said, and the third step is the COVID-19 vaccination which continues to be accelerated, because if the community has the vaccine, they will have the immune system to fight the COVID-19 attack.

"First of all, the health process always washes hands with masks, don't crowd, the number two is surveillance, don't be afraid if you get isolated, you heal yourself, the number three is vaccination. If there are high cases, the movement must be reduced," he said.
