9 People In Central Java Are Positive For Omicron, The Public Is Asked To Be Vigilant

SEMARANG – Head of Central Java Regional Police Humas Kombes Pol M Iqbal Alqudusy confirmed the news that 9 people were confirmed positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Central Java.

"From the results of the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) test, it was found that nine people were positive for Omicron," said Kabidhumas when confirmed, Friday, January 21, afternoon.

Iqbal explained that the nine patients were undergoing an epidemiological investigation. The origin of the WGS test samples, continued Iqbal, came from the cities of Semarang, Cilacap, Pekalongan and Sukoharjo.

"For this reason, it is recommended that the community obey the prokes. Activities that have the potential to cause crowds must be limited," explained Iqbal.

Iqbal said the Omicron variant spreads quickly, even 10 times faster than the Delta variant.

"People's awareness to obey the health procedures is the main thing. Keep wearing masks, limiting their mobility and always washing their hands," he said.

Iqbal said, currently the Central Java Police are accelerating booster vaccinations in the community. He hopes that people who have not been vaccinated against stage one, stage two and boosters to actively report themselves to the nearest health post and get vaccinated immediately.
