Meeting With The General Manager Of PAN And PPP, The United Nations Starts Exploring A Coalition Of Islamic Political Parties For The 2024 Presidential Election
JAKARTA - The Crescent Star Party (PBB) seems to be exploring opportunities to form a coalition with an Islamic political party. The UN General Chair, Prof. Yusril Ihza Mahendra, admitted that his party held a meeting with the general chairman of Islamic political parties in the context of the 2024 General Election.
Previously, Yusril together with UN officials met with PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan and the ranks of the PAN DPP. Most recently, the UN also met the General Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Suharso Monoarfa and the PPP DPP ranks.
"God willing. We will start with these 3 first," said Yusril in Jakarta, Friday, January 21.
According to him, if the meeting with the elites of Islamic political parties progresses, then the United Nations will continue the coalition plan with other Islamic political parties.
"Look at the developments and the positive response from the community. If it's good, we'll continue," said Yusril.
Previously, UN General Chair Yusril Ihza Mahendra accompanied by Secretary General Afriansyah Noor met with the leadership of the PAN DPP at the Plataran City Forest Restaurant, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 18, evening. Prince Khairul Saleh, and senior PAN figure Al Hilal Hamdi.
In the meeting, PBB and PAN discussed cooperation and opportunities to form an Islam-based coalition in the 2024 General Election. Afriansyah said the same meeting would be held with PPP in the coming days.
According to him, a great opportunity is open for the three parties to build closer cooperation ahead of the 2024 General Election.
"We are discussing the form of cooperation between the three parties and we are formulating it together," Afriansyah said in a written statement, Wednesday, January 19.
