KY Will Examine Judge Itong After KPK Determines As Suspect

JAKARTA - The Judicial Commission will examine the inactive Surabaya District Court Judge, Itong Isnaeni Hidayat. This examination was carried out after he was named a suspect in the bribery case handling the case.

"The Judicial Commission will take on the role of examining judges who are suspected of violating criminal acts, of course this is also related to alleged ethical violations," said Commissioner for Supervision of Judge Behavior and Investigation KY Joko Sasmito from the KPK RI YouTube show, Friday, January 21.

Joko said his agency is tasked with maintaining and upholding the honor and behavior of judges. Thus, with the stipulation of Itong as a suspect, an ethical check will be carried out.

"Therefore, I take this opportunity to convey that KY will conduct an examination of the judge in question," he said.

Furthermore, KY regretted Itong's actions as a judge who accepted bribes from litigants. Joko said his party would support the KPK's steps in investigating this case.

"KY supports, respects, and is willing to assist the law enforcement process carried out by the KPK," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Judge Itong as a suspect for receiving bribes in handling cases at the Surabaya District Court. This determination was preceded by a hand-catching operation (OTT) which was held on Wednesday, January 19.

In addition to Itong, the anti-corruption commission also appointed a substitute clerk, Hamdan and lawyers and representatives of PT SGP. During the silent operation, the KPK found and confiscated Rp140 million in cash.

Hamdan received the money from Hendro in the parking lot of the Surabaya District Court Building. It is suspected that the money is a sign that it is related to the management of the case so that Itong decides according to Itong's wishes.

For their actions, Itong and Hamdan are suspected of violating Article 12 letter c or Article 11 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication Corruption Crime Jo Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, Hendro is suspected of violating Article 6 paragraph (1) letter a or Article 13 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication Corruption Crimes Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
