David Silva Is Positive For COVID-19
JAKARTA - Real Sociedad's new player, David Silva, has tested positive for COVID-19. This was announced by Silva's new club on their official website.
The 34-year-old joined Sociedad for free in early August, but he tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in San Sebastian.
The Spanish League club said the results were based on Silva's second test carried out 72 hours since he arrived in Spain. The first test result was negative.
The Spanish midfielder, who has World Cup and European Cup winner status, left Manchester City at the end of the 2019-2020 season before signing a two-year contract with Sociedad.
Silva is now in self-isolation and is not showing any symptoms, the club said.
Silva's new teammate, Mikel Oyarzabal, was also infected with the corona virus and his position in the Spanish national team was replaced by Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno.
Spain will play Germany in their opening Nations League match in Stuttgart on Thursday, September 3 before hosting Ukraine three days later.
Meanwhile, the new La Liga season will start on September 12.
