Handcuffed And Wearing An Orange Vest To The KPK, Surabaya District Court Judge Itong Isnaeni Hidayat Becomes A Suspect
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Surabaya District Court Judge Itong Isnaeni Hidayat a suspect. This decision was made after Itong was caught in a sting operation (OTT) on Wednesday, January 19.
According to VOI monitoring, Itong and two other suspects came down from the KPK Red and White Building examination room, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta after being questioned at 20.20 WIB. He wears an orange vest that reads KPK Prisoners and his hands are handcuffed.
As long as he was announced as a suspect, Itong couldn't stay still when he stood up. His body moved restlessly as he stood behind the KPK leadership as well as officials from the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission who were present.
Deputy Chairperson of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Nawawi Pomolango, said that five people were arrested from the silent operation in the Surabaya area, East Java. Of this number, the anti-corruption commission then named three people as suspects, one of which was Itong.
"KPK found sufficient preliminary evidence to increase the status as a suspect," said Nawawi Pomolango at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 20.
During the silent operation, Rp. 145 million was found as an initial sign regarding the dissolution of PT SGP with a divisible asset value of Rp. 50 billion. The total amount of money that must be submitted is Rp. 1.3 billion so that the decision is in accordance with the private party who is the briber.
The KPK also suspects that Itong received money from a number of cases that were heard at the Surabaya District Court. Later, this will be explored further during the investigation process.
After the announcement of his legal status, Itong and other suspects will be detained in a number of different KPK detention centers. Later, they will first self-isolate in their respective detention rooms because the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening.
"For the investigation process, an attempt was made to force detention for the next 20 days starting January 20 to February 8," said Nawawi.
When the status was read out, Judge Itong turned around and stated that what the KPK had said was not true.
"What was said was not true. Everything was made up. I didn't receive any money," said Itong, who was then asked to turn towards the wall by the prison guard.
For his actions, Itong as a bribe recipient was suspected of violating Article 12 letter (a) or Article 12 letter (b) or Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
