Three Pamekasan Residents Of East Java Died Due To DHF
PAMEKASAN - The Health Service (Dinkes) of Pamekasan, East Java (Jatim) released that three residents of this district had died from dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in early 2022.
"The total number of Pamekasan residents who were infected with dengue fever at the beginning of 2022 was 43 people, and three of them died," said the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division of the Pamekasan Health Office, Hidayat, in Pamekasan, as quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 20.
The data on the number of residents suffering from DHF is based on reports from 21 puskesmas spread over 13 sub-districts in Pamekasan Regency as of January 19, 2022.
The three Pamekasan residents who died from dengue fever, because they were referred to a health service center were in very serious condition.
"If those who are referred immediately, on average, they can be saved. But the slow ones can cause death," he also said.
Hidayat explained, this type of disease is indeed a seasonal disease, and usually occurs during the rainy season like today.
Efforts to prevent the spread of this type of disease can be carried out by using the "3M" method, namely regularly draining water reservoirs, burying all used goods that have the potential to become breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and closing water reservoirs.
"The Pamekasan Health Office is currently also intensifying socialization to the community in order to maintain environmental cleanliness and to eradicate mosquito nests," he said.
Mosquito nest fumigation (PSN) has also begun to be carried out by puskesmas officers in Pamekasan at a number of points that are considered vulnerable.
The Head of P2P of the Pamekasan Health Office, Hidayat, explained the symptoms for residents who were infected with DHF, both in adults and in children. Among other things, his body temperature is more than 38 degrees Celsius. Lack of appetite and in children under five years are usually fussy.
"In children, if the child's body temperature reaches 38 degrees Celsius and does not go down even though he has been given medicine for 2-3 days, the child should be immediately taken to the nearest puskesmas or hospital," he explained.
According to Hidayat, dengue is a type of disease that usually occurs during the rainy season like today.
Besides dengue fever, other types of diseases that usually occur during the rainy season are diarrhea, failures and acute respiratory infections (ARI).
