JAKARTA - Indonesia Patriots again accept defeat. The unsatisfactory result was obtained when they met Amartha Hangtuah.
The Patriots lost to Hangtuah after the duel ended with a score of 58-60 at the Senayan Basketball Hall, Jakarta, Thursday, January 20, 2022. This was the second defeat for Milos Pejic's team in the first series of IBL 2022.
"A match that is worth watching. In this match, we played with a very good defense. The only difference in this team is the experience. I have shaped all the players here to be better day by day," Pejic said in a written statement that got VOI.
Fisyaiful Amir and Sevly Rondonuwu opened Hangtuah's first five points. After that, Patriots Victory players Jacob Emilio Lobbu and Dame Diagne narrowed the gap in numbers.
Fisyaiful and Sevly again added points to make Hangtuah lead 13-4 in the first five minutes. After Aldy Izzatur Rahman scored for the Patriots, points from Fisyaiful and Firman Yohanes Situmorang managed to close the first quarter for Hangtuah to lead 19-6.
The second quarter, the Patriots rose to catch up. Ali Bagir Wayarabi Alhadar and his colleagues were able to create 17 points and were rewarded with 12 points by Hangtuah's troops.
Entering the third quarter, Sevly made three three-point shots in a row to make Hangtuah lead 42-25. Then the numbers through the lay-up of Gunawan and Firman further distanced Hangtuah from the pursuit of the Patriots.
Dame and Mario Davidson managed to close the gap. However, five minutes early in the third quarter, Hangtuah led 46-29. The quarter was finally closed with a 12-point advantage for Hangtuah, 55-43.
The last quarter seemed like hell for Hangtuah. Ali Bagir, Mario and Julian Chalias closed the margin to 50-57. Fisyaiful's one free throw was rewarded with consecutive numbers from Bagir so that the gap between the two teams narrowed to 58-56.
Anton Waters' free throw then changed the score to 60-56. Followed by Aldy's lay-up one minute before the game ended, closing this dramatic match with a score of 60-58.
"We feel that the players may be nervous and we are trying to improve on that. This team must improve even more in the future. So far I think that in terms of defense it is almost the same as the teams in the IBL," said Pejic
The Indonesian Patriots are again one of the visiting teams at the 2022 IBL which is being prepared by PP Perbasi to strengthen the national team in international events. Nearby, they have an agenda for the 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.
