16 Police Checked For Warning Shots Of Killing Makassar Residents, Bullets Tested For Ballistics
JAKARTA - As many as 16 police officers were questioned by the South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Regional Police Propam for warning shots that killed one Makassar resident. The bullets are ballistic tested.
"We are still exploring the origin of the shots until they hit the residents and waiting for the ballistic test (results)," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, confirmed by VOI, Monday, August 31 evening.
This ballistic test was conducted to find out the police who fired warning shots until they hit the residents. There were three residents of Ujung Tanah District, Makassar, who were hit by gunfire, namely Ammar, Iqbal and Anjas. The last name died in medical treatment at the hospital.
"There were 16 people examined (Propam)," said Ibrahim.
This incident began when police personnel Bripka Usman — a member of the Ujung Tanah Police — investigated the beating case in Ujung Tanah District, Makassar on Sunday, August 30 in the morning. When meeting a group of youths, Bripka Usman was asked his identity.
Bripka Usman was then rescued by members who were patrolling the area. After the situation calmed down, Bripka Usman returned to the location. But again the masses gathered and attacked.
"There, warning shots were given," said Makassar Port Police Chief AKBP Muhammad Kadarislam Kasim.
However, recently the police warning shots hit three residents, namely Ammar, Iqbal and Anjas. Anjas was declared dead in medical treatment at the hospital.
"Hit the head," said Kadarislam, who is usually called Iccang.
