The COVID-19 Test In Indonesia Is Still 46.85 Percent Of The WHO Standard
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Wiku Adisasmito admitted that the number of COVID-19 tests in Indonesia is still relatively low.
Wiku said, the number of COVID-19 checks in Indonesia was still 125,434. This number, said Wiku, is still far below the standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) which requires Indonesia to screen 267,700 people per week.
"At this time, Indonesian examinations have only reached 46.85 percent of the WHO standard. By default, with a population of 267 million, we need examinations of 267,700 people per week," said Wiku at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Monday, August 31.
Even so, the investigation effort on August 24 to 30 experienced an increase from the examination on August 17 to 23.
"There is a relatively high increase from the previous week with a total of 95,463 examinations. So, hopefully, the performance of this laboratory will increase," he said.
For information, the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 per day is 2,743 cases. The total accumulated positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia reached 174,796 people.
Today's cases increased by 1,774, so that a total of 125,959 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 74 people and a total of 7,417 people.
The province with the most new cases is in DKI Jakarta with 1,049 new cases and a total of 40,086 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.
In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 2,239,642. In detail, 2,197,694 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 41,948 using molecular rapid test (TCM).
