DPR Commission II: Trust Is An Important Capital For KPU-Bawaslu Candidates

JAKARTA - The Selection Team (Timsel) of Candidates for Members of the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), have submitted 14 names of candidates for KPU members and 10 candidates for Bawaslu members to Commission II of the DPR RI, Wednesday, January 19.

Later the DPR will carry out a fit and proper test to select seven KPU members and five Bawaslu members. Member of Commission II DPR RI, MF Nurhuda Y, revealed the most appropriate criteria to become members of the KPU and Bawaslu. "The most important criterion for KPU and Bawaslu personnel is trust capital. It means that they are people who can really be trusted to be the implementers and supervisors of the election (trusted person)," said Nurhuda to reporters, Thursday, January 20.

Nurhuda said that the fit and proper test will be to select trust worthy persons with character and competence capital.

"The character is how excellence in the personnel of the KPU and Bawaslu candidates. For example, firmness and wisdom in attitude, high discipline, high work ethic, honesty, good intentions for the benefit of the nation and state, self-integrity, ability to maintain neutrality. Then creative-solutionist , they must be able to solve problems creatively in any situation," he explained.

Meanwhile, competence, he continued, is what candidates for KPU and Bawaslu members can do, including their expertise. "They must be experts in the electoral field. They have experience in the field of elections in Indonesia," he said. According to the PKB politician, all personnel decided by the Selection Team (Timsel) for candidates for KPU and Bawaslu members already have these criteria. "We appreciate the professional performance of Timsel. They are 11 people who have different backgrounds, and their experiences have been tested. So that Timsel's decision deserves to be appreciated. We must thank Timsel who worked hard professionally," he said.

Nurhuda added that KPU and Bawaslu members must have strong character and competent competence. Later, Commission II of the DPR will examine these two things.

"Because this election has a lot of interests, the implementing personnel and election supervisors must really be people who are worthy of trust," said the legislator for the Central Java electoral district.
