This Is The Reason Why People Can Get Stressed When Away From Their Device

JAKARTA - Feelings of panic and stress are often experienced by someone when they leave their device or cannot use their device for a long time.

Launching Hindustantimes on Sunday, August 30, a study found that someone who has these feelings is thought to be more worried and obsessive about life.

One of the researchers, Ana Paula Correia, then linked this research to the research she had previously made. Namely, about human resilience when far from the device. The results of both are used to develop the term Nomophobia, a person's fear of being away from a cell phone.

Researchers conducted questionnaires on 495 adults aged 18-24 years in Portugal. This questionnaire evaluates psychopathological symptoms such as anxiety, compulsive obsessions, and feelings.

As a result, most people use their devices for 4-7 hours per day to play social networking applications. That's why they get stressed more easily when they are away from their devices.

Those who score high on obsession compulsiveness will experience fear when living without gadgets.

Compulsive obsessions can potentially build Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in which a person experiences excessive anxiety disorders so that they form a person to perform certain actions repeatedly.

Usually, this person does it repeatedly in order to reduce the anxiety that arises from their own thoughts.

"This concept is more than just using a cell phone. People use the phone for tasks like social media, connections, knowing what's going on with social media influencers, ”said Correia.

"So being away from the cell phone can cut the connection and cause feelings of anxiety," he continued.

Even though it is not a dangerous disease, it is better if someone can control their daily use of their device.
