Contribution Of COVID-19 Test In Jakarta Reaches 43 Percent Of National Figures
JAKARTA - The accumulation of COVID-19 cases in DKI Jakarta is the highest in Indonesia. The increase in COVID-19 cases in Jakarta today is 1,029. Meanwhile, the accumulated cases reached 40,309 cases.
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said this was in line with the increasingly massive COVID-19 testing efforts carried out.
"Yesterday, it was reported that 43 percent of testing from all over Indonesia was carried out in Jakarta. As a consequence, the positive number will be higher," Anies said in a webinar discussion, Monday, August 31.
The number of people tested in the past week was 56,815 people. This figure is 5 times the minimum standard determined by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In capturing COVID-19 cases, the DKI Provincial Government uses active contact tracing of positive cases (active case finding), not only waiting for the community to carry out independent tests.
"In this way, we know for a fact about the status of COVID-19 in Jakarta. We will be able to see this later," said Anies.
Even though the number of cases is increasing, Anies said that the death rate due to COVID-19 in DKI is decreasing. The death rate (case fatality fate) in DKI is currently 3 percent.
Meanwhile, the death rate on a national scale was 4.3 percent. Meanwhile, the world death rate stands at 3.4 percent.
The low mortality rate, said Anies, illustrates that the massive testing activities carried out have enabled DKI to detect cases early before the situation gets worse.
"Those who have congenital diseases or those who have a fatal risk due to age, they can do self-isolation, can be treated if they need treatment so that treatment is not too late," he said.
