8 Victims Of Boxed Rice Poisoning In Ciasahan Sukabumi Still Undergo Intensive Treatment
SUKABUMI - Eight residents of Ciasahan Village, Sukabumi Regency, West Java who were suspected of having food poisoning after eating boxed rice at the celebration ceremony were still undergoing intensive care from the Jampangtengah Health Center medical team.
"The health conditions of the victims have gradually improved, but they still have to undergo treatment at the puskesmas and observation because their condition is still weak," said Jampang Tengah Police Chief Asep Nurdin, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 19.
According to information gathered by the police, the alleged case of mass poisoning that occurred in RT 11/03, Sindangresmi Village, Jampangtengah District, occurred on Saturday, January 15, where one of the villagers held a celebration in the form of his son's akikah.
In addition to carrying out aqikah, the event is also a gathering place for local residents because the person who has the intention is an immigrant. After the thanksgiving and gathering, the residents who came at the event returned home with boxed rice.
Initially a number of residents eating the boxed rice dish did not feel any symptoms of poisoning, but one day later, on Sunday, January 16, some residents began to feel nauseous, heartburn, dizzy, vomited, and some people had to defecate continuously.
It turns out that this condition is not only felt by one or two people, but the number of residents who experience symptoms of poisoning and seek treatment at the local health center continues to grow until Tuesday (18/1). Of the number of victims who received treatment, only eight residents had to undergo treatment because their health conditions continued to decline.
According to Asep, his party has also carried out an investigation into the suspected poisoning case and coordinated with the puskesmas officers and the Sukabumi District Health Office to reveal the cause of the alleged mass poisoning.
"We have asked for information from a number of victims and taken samples of leftover food for research by the health office, while the main cause is still unknown, we are still waiting for the results of laboratory tests, but it is suspected that it was the result of consuming boxed rice distributed at the thanksgiving event." he added.
