Jakarta Floods, Head Of DKI DPRD: Infiltration Wells Are Useless

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI DPRD Prasetyo Edi Marsudi regrets the condition of Jakarta which is still inundated by floods due to heavy rains, Tuesday, January 18.

Regarding this condition, Prasetyo emphasized that the construction of infiltration wells in the DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan's program turned out to be useless in dealing with Jakarta floods.

"It doesn't add to the problem, what the governor has made today is that planning for infiltration wells is useless," said Prasetyo when met at the DKI DPRD building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, January 19.

Therefore, Prasetyo urged Anies to immediately realize river normalization before his term of office ends in October 2022. This program has stalled in the land acquisition process.

"Actually, it should be normalized or naturalized. Just do it first. After that is done, then we'll see how far the flooding is. But if it rains a little, everything is flooded. It's not a mess," said Prasetyo.

"Focus on the work, it's a shame the budget is big if the results are still flooding," said the member of the PDIP faction of the DKI DPRD.

For information, the DKI Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that 102 RT in Jakarta still flooded with water levels reaching 90 centimeters. Floods occurred due to heavy rains that fell from morning to night yesterday. "Information about inundation as of 15.00 WIB is in 102 RTs or 0.3 percent of the 30,470 RTs in DKI Jakarta," said Head of Disaster Data and Information Center for BPBD DKI M. Confident in his statement.
