Gerindra's Response When Ahok's Name Was Promoted As Head Of The IKN Authority

JAKARTA - Member of the Special Committee for the IKN Bill from the Gerindra Party faction, Kamrussamad, responded to the issue of 4 names of candidates for the head of the IKN Nusantara authority.

It is known that last year President Joko Widodo had leaked the names of a number of candidates for the head of the authority. One of the most highlighted is the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok.

Kamrussamad explained, in the IKN Law that was passed by the DPR yesterday, Tuesday, January 18, it was stipulated that the administration of the regional government of the nation's capital would be led by a head of authority who was directly appointed by the president.

"The IKN Law gives the President 2 months to determine the head of the government authority," said Kamrussamad to VOI, Wednesday, January 19.

The Gerindra politician said the task of the head of the authority was very heavy because it included planning, building and moving the capital.

"Therefore, we need a figure who is able to work in a team and has good leadership skills," he said.

Regarding the names of candidates, Kamrussamad emphasized that the president's full authority to vote is in the hands of the president.

"(Later on) the choice of name will be consulted with the DPR in accordance with the mandate of the law," said Kamrussamad.

Previously, President Joko Widodo mentioned 4 names that have the potential to become candidates for the head of the IKN authority.

"There are many candidates. One Mr. Bambang Brodjonegoro, two Mr. Ahok, three Mr. Tumiyono, four Mr. Azwar Anas," said Jokowi at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Monday, March 2 2020.
