JAKARTA - Rahmad Mas'ud and Thohari Aziz declared themselves running as the candidate pair for mayor and deputy mayor in the Pilkada Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. Rahmad Mas'ud, who is currently the deputy mayor of Balikpapan, has bought the support of 8 political parties.
"Alhamdulillah, the declaration was made last night. For the time being, 7 political parties (DPRD seat owners, red) are providing support, namely Golkar, PDIP, PKS, PAN, Democrat, Gerindra, PKB and Perindo (non-seats), "said Rahmad Mas'ud when contacted by VOI, Monday, August 31.
These seven political parties control seats in the Balikpapan City DPRD. The remaining NasDem, PPP and Hanura have yet to make political choices in the Balikpapan Pilkada. There is a possibility that Rahmad Mas'ud-Thohari will become the sole candidate, aka dealing with an empty box.
"We'll see," said Rahmad.
For the 2020 Pilkada, Rahmad Mas'ud already has a measurable work program. The picture of improving the city of Balikpapan is becoming a better projection for Rahmad Mas'ud.
"What is certain is human resources, education and health. Another priority scale is managing Balikpapan as a service and industrial city. Of course, UKM players must be present and protected so they can move together, ”he explained.
Rahmad Mas'ud emphasized the provision of job opportunities as a priority. Including the matter of serving the basic needs of people in this city with a population of more than 655 thousand people per 2019.
"The basic needs of PDAM water services to residents are improved. Yesterday it was about electricity, but thank God it was resolved. What is certain is that we have to prepare Balikpapan as a buffer for the nation's capital city (IKN), especially the support for clean water supply facilities, "said this Golkar cadre.
