Develop Green Industrial Estate, Pertamina And Jababeka Sign MoU
JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Jababeka have agreed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to realize strategic steps in the context of energy sustainability and decarbonization programs in Indonesia.
Pertamina President Director Nicke Widyawati said that her party was conducting studies and exploring cooperation for the development of efforts towards carbon neutrality from the aspect of technology, environmentally friendly energy, emission offsets, and other potential collaborations.
"The memorandum of understanding is a form of realization for policy recommendations to the government, and also shows how the G20 can encourage the realization of what has been announced," Nicke said in a statement in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 18.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on Tuesday 18 January 2022, coinciding with the Stakeholders Consultation agenda by The Business 20 (B20) Task Force Energy, Sustainability, and Climate, which was led directly by Nicke Widyawati.
Nicke said Pertamina and Jababeka agreed to cooperate in the identification and evaluation of green industrial estate development which will include gas supply, electricity supply from new and renewable energy, research and innovation.
Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Jababeka Tbk said that this step was in line with the government's directives as stated in Presidential Regulation No. 98 of 2021, and the direction of President Joko Widodo in preparation for the G20 Presidency this year, one of which is about the energy transition.
Two words, as the 'home' of more than 2000 industrial tenants from 30 countries, Jababeka sees that there is currently an increasing need for the use of New and Renewable Energy (EBT) from multinational companies, especially those with a global commitment to be able to compete in the international market.
"One of Jababeka's visions is to become a pioneer in Green Industrial Estate. Therefore, PT. Jababeka Tbk agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding with PT. Pertamina (Persero)," said Budianto.
Then, he said, the signing was also a form of commitment in exploring opportunities for cooperation in providing services in industrial areas that adhere to the principles of sustainability.
In the future, he hopes that with this signing, Jababeka will contribute to the government's agenda in carrying out the energy transition. The energy transition agenda is one of President Jokowi's three priorities – in addition to global health and digital transformation – during Indonesia's leadership at the G20 in 2022.
