Ahn Jae Hyun Withdraws From New Journey To The West Season 8
JAKARTA - Ahn Jae Hyun will not be joining the new season of the variety show, New Journey to the West (NJTTW). The news is broadcast by OSEN today, Monday, August 31st and confirmed by NJTTW staff.
With Ahn Jae Hyun's absence from the NJTTW line up, viewers will not see his interactions with other NJTTW players such as Kang Ho Dong, Lee Soo Geun, Eun Ji Won SECHSKIES, Super Junior's Kyuhyun, WINNER's Mino, and PO BLOCK B who have confirmed their return to this event.
It is known that the production staff is preparing the 8th NJTTW in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially, they will start filming in early August, but due to the pandemic they will prepare for the shooting streets with social distancing.
In addition, given this situation, it was difficult for staff as well as players to travel on missions outside of South Korea. Usually they shoot NJTTW in foreign countries such as China, Hong Kong, and Japan.
Previously, Ahn Jae Hyun also did not join NJTTW season 7 which aired from October 2019 to January this year.
Ahn Jae Hyun divorced from his wife and actress, Goo Hye Sun in August 2019. Because of this incident, Ahn Jae Hyun decided not to return to NJTTW 7 so as not to cause discomfort between the other players.
"We have spoken with Ahn Jae Hyun and agreed that he will not come back with us in this new NJTTW season," said a staff representative.
Ahn Jae Hyun last appeared in public through his drama project entitled Love With Flaws which aired earlier this year.
New Journey to the West is tvN's variety show that shows 7 television stars on a mission to collect 7 dragon balls that can fulfill their desires.
