16 Athletes Who Passed The 2022 PBSI National Selection Take A Series Of National Training Entrance Tests
JAKARTA – A series of tests must be followed by 16 athletes who pass the PBSI national selection and ensure that they join the National Training Center. These tests include medical tests, psychological tests, and physical tests.
The test took place January 17-18 at Pelatnas PBSI, Cipayung, East Jakarta. One of the purposes of this test is to determine the potential for injuries of each athlete that could hinder their development when joining Pelatnas.
"So we want to see their potential, not only technically but also supporting components such as health, mental and physical. We also want to find out if they have a history of injury or not, this is important because we will project these athletes to a level Don't let what has happened so far, you get injured and you can't achieve anymore," PBSI's Head of Sport Science Development Iwan Hermawan in a statement received by VOI.
The data obtained from the results of this test will help the coaching team to develop athletes according to the programs towards the international level. The development effort is not only a physical problem for athletes, but also, their mentality.
Health tests include laboratory tests, examination of vital signs and height-weight, x-rays, postural examinations, foot scans, general practitioners, EKG, nutrition, and a beighton score test. While the physical tests include functional movement screen, vertical jump, court agility, RAST test, and multi-stage fitness test (beep test).
Iwan said the test results of these athletes were in the moderate to good stage. However, the coaching team still has a lot of homework to do to polish athletes to reach the highest level.
"For this physical test, we carried out specific tests such as agility, endurance, and leg strength tests. Court agility was used for agility, for cardio-cardiovascular endurance we used a beep test and there was a measurement of leg strength because in badminton, in addition to hand movements, power is also needed. adequate limbs to support footwork, jumping and explosive movements of an athlete," explained Iwan.
After obtaining valid data, the coaching team will begin to develop a training program according to the principle of individualism. This means that each athlete will receive a different portion of training according to their standards.
"After processing and obtaining valid data from these athletes, our coaching team will begin to develop a training program with the principle of individualism. That is, an exercise program according to the portion and ability of each athlete. It is not generalized," said Iwan.
In addition to the three medical tests, the PBSI's Legality and Information System Division also screened the age data of the athletes. If an age deviation is found later, the entrance ticket to the National Training Center will automatically fail.
