NTB Prepares Government Building To Accommodate Mandalika MotoGP Spectators
NTB - The Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) will utilize government buildings to overcome the lack of hotel rooms to accommodate MotoGP spectators at the Mandalika Circuit on March 18-20, 2022.
"The solution is, after there are homestays, tent accommodations from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, floating ships from Pelni and the Navy. Of course, we think that in the regions we are preparing rooms in government offices, both at the governor's office (provincial government) and Central Lombok regency and Mataram city governments will function as an accommodation for spectators," said NTB Regional Secretary (Sekda) Lalu Gita Ariadi in Mataram, Antara, Monday, January 17.
He explained that the plan to prepare a government building or office for MotoGP spectators was in response to President Jokowi's approval which would increase the number of spectators at the MotoGP racing event, from 63,000 people to 100,000 people.
Therefore, the plan to increase the number of spectators quota must be well prepared. One of them is by adding room slots to 100 thousand rooms.
Moreover, it is predicted that the number of visitors who will watch MotoGP is around 165,000 people. Meanwhile, the number of accommodations in NTB is still far from being needed.
Data from the Tourism Office (Dispar) of NTB, shows that the number of hotel rooms in NTB, both star hotels and budget hotels, is more than 20 thousand newly available rooms. By looking at the estimated guests or visitors who will attend, NTB still lacks 146,000 hotel rooms.
Gita stated specifically at the NTB Provincial Government office, his party has the Graha Bhakti Praja Building and the Women's Building which can be transformed into a residence for MotoGP spectators who come from various regions in Indonesia.
In addition, provincial government OPDs who have connections with OPDs in regions in Indonesia, including in the ministry, can become hosts for their arrival.
"Essentially, why are we turning the government office into accommodation for the Mandalika MotoGP audience. We call this MotoGP event a service workshop. So, all provincial government OPDs must be actively involved," he said.
The Regional Secretary said that in the remaining time, his party also prepared a number of Islamic boarding schools (Ponpes), both in West Lombok and Central Lombok, which could be used as locations to accommodate the Mandalika MotoGP audience.
"MotoGP spectators just need a rest and a place to bathe. So, we have prepared a number of location scenarios, including the Hajj Dormitory in Mataram City and after I checked it was ordered by guests from Malaysia. What is clear, NTB is ready to be a good host," he said. .
