Luhut Urges People To Limit Mobility, Offices Apply WFH

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan appealed to the public to limit their mobility outside their homes. Likewise, offices are urged to re-implement Work From Home (WFH) to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

Luhut emphasized that although the Indonesian health system was quite prepared to deal with Omicron, public awareness in implementing health protocols was the main key to suppressing the rate of spread of cases.

"The government is ready, if the people are not ready, that will also be a problem," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 16.

In accordance with President Jokowi's directives at today's meeting, Luhut said that while still following the PPKM level based on existing assessments, he appealed to the public to start limiting activities outside their homes and gatherings that were not necessary.

"I repeat this, if we don't need to get together, we don't need to gather. It's the same with offices, if the work from home option is still able to maintain productivity levels, we leave it to the top management to do the assessment themselves. I urge this option ( WFH) can be taken," he said.

The Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC PEN) also appealed for office activities to be regulated so that there is no need for 100 percent WFO (Working From Office).

"We urge you, if you don't need 100 percent at the office, you don't have to be 100 percent present. So just arrange it, see the situation, whether 75 percent is made for the next two weeks, it can be assessed by each office. Especially the office. In terms of industry, I think there is no problem," he said.

Luhut said President Jokowi had also asked all people to limit themselves from traveling abroad. Government officials have also been banned from serving abroad for the next three weeks.

"Only if it is absolutely necessary to go abroad. Government officials have even been prohibited from traveling abroad for the next three weeks," he said.

Luhut also appealed to all ministries and institutions to minimize the activities of meetings held offline or offline and as much as possible do them online.

"But it also doesn't prohibit meeting them. I also leave it to my friends to do their own assessments," he added.

Luhut again reminded the public to continue to obey and adhere to health protocols.

This is because the slightest negligence and carelessness that arise will in fact repeat the dark experiences of the past, namely the soaring Covid-19 cases and tightening activities that limit mobility.
