Dozens Of Bandar Prisoners And Drug Dealers In Semarang Prison Moved To Nusakambangan
SEMARANG - A total of 41 convicts of narcotics abuse cases from the Class 1 prison in Semarang were transferred to the Class IIA prison in Karanganyar, Nusakambangan, Cilacap, Central Java.
The Head of Semarang's Head of Pasriyanto, Supriyanto, said that the dozens of prisoners who had been transferred had the status of dealers and dealers.
In addition, he said, the decision to transfer dozens of prisoners was also made suddenly.
According to him, the reason for the transfer of the prisoners was to reduce the excess number of prison occupants.
"The maximum capacity of the prison is only 663 people, but currently it is inhabited by around 1,700 inmates," he said, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 16.
Every day, he continued, there are new prisoners who enter which is an overflow from law enforcers.
In addition to excess capacity, he said, this transfer is also an effort to break the chain of narcotics trafficking from within prisons.
The prisoners classified as dealers and dealers were transferred to the Karanganyar prison, which has a higher level of security.
