Booster Vaccine Stock In Surabaya Runs Out, Mayor Eri Cahyadi Asks For Immediate Delivery

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government in East Java Province is waiting for additional supplies of COVID-19 vaccine for boosters from the provincial and central governments to continue giving additional doses of vaccine for residents who have received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.

"This means that this (vaccine stock) has run out, because for the booster, only Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca vaccines can be used. For the booster vaccine, availability is still waiting for the dropping allocation from the provincial government and the central government," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya, as quoted by Antara. "If it is sent again today, we can vaccinate on Monday," he added.

He explained that booster vaccination in the early stages was prioritized for the elderly in the city of Surabaya. There were 80,747 elderly people who were targeted for booster vaccination in the city of Surabaya.

"The implementation of booster vaccination for the general public is still waiting for official circulars and technical instructions from the Ministry of Health," said the Mayor.

"The remaining stock is the Sinovac vaccine for doses one and two," he said.

The mayor said that there were still 11,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine for the first and second dose vaccination services for the citizens of Surabaya.
