Former HTI Spokesman Reported To Police

JAKARTA - Former spokesman for Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), Ismail Yusanto was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya on suspicion of declaring membership in a banned community organization (ormas) that endangers state security.

The reporting was carried out by Heriansyah, registered with the number LP: 5137 / VIII / YAN 2.5 / 2020 / SPKT PMJ dated August 28, 2020.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the reporting was made because the reported party claimed on social media to be the spokesman for HTI. In fact, this mass organization has been disbanded by the Minister of Law and Human Rights and strengthened in the Supreme Court's cassation decision.

"Last August 26 saw on social media where the reported said and understood that he was the spokesman for HTI," said Yusri, Friday, August 28.

With this report, said Yusri, investigators from the Sub-Directorate for State Security (Kamneg) of the General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Metro Jaya are currently investigating the report.

"We have received this report and we will investigate it first," continued Yusri.

With that report, Ismail Yusanto was reported by Law number 16 of 2017 concerning Ormas Article 82A Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 59 Paragraph (4) Points (b) & (c) with the threat of life imprisonment or 20 years in prison. The reporter also includes the alleged violation in Article 28 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 45A Paragraph (2) Law Number 19 Year 2016 concerning ITE and Article 169 of the Criminal Code.
