Labor Demands Discontinuation Of Omnibus Law Discussion, DPR: Impossible, MK Says It Must Fix

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Parliament has responded to the demands of the workers who asked to stop the discussion of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation through demonstrations.

The chairman of the Legislative Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI, Supratman Andi Agtas, ensured that the DPR and the government would continue the decision of the Constitutional Court to make improvements to the Job Creation Act.

"Yes, it's impossible not to continue, the Court's decision says it must be corrected," said Supratman, Friday, January 14. According to him, the substance of the workers' demands and the Constitutional Court's orders are very different. "The substance of the demands is different again," he continued.

Even so, Supratman admitted that he did not blame the aspirations and demands of the workers who demonstrated in front of the DPR/MPR Building.

"There is nothing wrong with what the workers demand. There is nothing wrong in substance, it is the duty of the government and the DPR to listen to it," said Supratman. in front of the Indonesian Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday, January 14. One of the things that was echoed was asking that the discussion of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation be stopped.

"The demands put forward by the Labor Party and by the organs of labor unions and farmers' unions are one to reject the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law, the contents or draft that has been submitted to the DPR repeats the two things discussed in the past years," said Labor Party President Said. Iqbal.
