Update On COVID-19 As Of August 28: A Record Of 3,003 New Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 33,082 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 3,003 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 165,887 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Friday, August 28.

Today's cases increased by 2,325, bringing a total of 120,900 people to recovery. Meanwhile, 105 confirmed positive cases died and a total of 7,169 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 869 new cases and a total of 37,082 cases. DKI Jakarta is also the province with the most accumulated cases in Indonesia.

Furthermore, West Java has 526 new cases with a total of 10,528 cases. East Java with 417 new cases and a total of 32,113 cases. Central Java with 242 new cases and a total of 13,467 cases. Then, East Kalimantan has 97 new cases and a total of 3,723 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 881 recovered cases. Followed by East Java with an additional 238 cured cases, South Kalimantan with an additional 180 recovered cases, and Gorontalo with an additional 152 recovered cases.

It was also reported that 3 provinces reported no new cases today. The provinces are West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and Bangka Belitung.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined reached 2,169,498. In detail, 2,128,468 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 41,030 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The number of positive results per number of specimens examined (positivity rate) was 13.3 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 77,857 people. Currently, 486 districts / cities out of 34 provinces have had COVID-19 cases.
