Kejari Meranti Islands Seizes Thousands Of Health Office Rapid Test Equipment

MERANTI ISLANDS - The District Attorney for Meranti Islands Regency, Riau, searched the local Health Service Office, Thursday, and confiscated evidence of thousands of COVID-19 rapid test kits with various brands.

The head of the Meranti Islands District Attorney's Office (Kajari) Waluyo said there were around 1,680 rapid test kits confiscated by his party for investigation purposes.

"The confiscation of this evidence is related to the case of misappropriation of the Meranti COVID-19 response acceleration which has been going on since 2021," said Waluyo, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 13.

The team confiscated thousands of rapid test kits consisting of 560 units of the Whole Power brand and 1,120 units of the Promeds brand.

"For the confiscation, it is accompanied by an official report submitted by two related officials," said Waluyo.

To note, this search is a follow-up after the Meranti Islands Kejari has named the former Head of the Meranti Islands Health Service, Dr. Misri Hasanto, as a suspect in the misuse of COVID-19 rapid test kits.

Previously, Misri had been named a suspect by the Riau Police for alleged abuse of authority by the Head of the Meranti District Health Office starting on September 7, 2020.

Previously, the Director General of Disease Prevention and Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Health gave 30 thousand picis of the COVID-19 antibody rapid test kit to the Pekanbaru Class II Port Health Office (KKP).

The medical devices that should be free are sold by the suspect to the public for the benefit of a few people.
