The Attorney General's Office Names 2 New Suspects In The LPEI Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office has again named a new suspect in the alleged corruption case in the implementation of national export financing by the Indonesian Export Financing Agency (LPEI) in 2013-2019.

"Today, investigators summoned four witnesses, two of which were named as suspects," said Head of the Attorney General's Office for Legal Information, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 13.

The two suspects, namely PSNM as the former Relationship Manager of LPEI in 2010-2014 and also the former Head of the LPEI SME Financing Department for the period of 2014-2018.

The second suspect has the initials DSD as the former Head of the Business Risk Analysis Division II (April 2015 to January 2019.

Leonard said, in order to speed up the investigation process, the two suspects were detained for the first 20 days, from January 13 to February 1, 2022.

"The suspects in PSNM and DSD are being held at the Salemba Rutan at the Attorney General's Office," he said.

Leonard explained in a brief chronology of this case, LPEI in implementing national export financing has provided financing to debtors without going through the principles of good corporate governance and not in accordance with the LPEI credit policy rules.

This action resulted in an increase in non-performing loans (NPL) in 2019 by 23.39 percent.

"Then based on LPEI's financial reports as of December 31, 2019, LPEI suffered a loss for the year of IDR 4.7 trillion," said Leonard.

LPEI in providing financing facilities to eight groups (consisting of 27 companies) without going through the principles of Good Corporate Governance and not in accordance with the financing rules from the Financial Risk Management Information System report LPEI is now in a collectability position of 5 (lost) per December 31, 2019.

The bad loans occurred in the Swallow Group, which consists of three companies, then the Johan Darsono Group, which consists of 12 companies.

This unlawful act, according to preliminary calculations by investigators, resulted in state financial losses (Swallow Group and Johan Darsono Group) of approximately Rp. 2.6 trillion.

According to Leonard, the nominal will continue to grow because until now the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK RI) is still calculating state losses.

"From the unlawful act that resulted in the state's financial loss, the investigators named the two suspects," said Leonard.

With the stipulation of the two suspects, currently there are seven suspects related to allegations of corruption (Tipikor) in the Implementation of National Export Financing by LPEI 2013-2019.

Previously, investigators at the Attorney General's Round Building had named five suspects on Thursday (6/1). The five people, namely Arif Setiawan as LPEI Executive Director II for the 2016 period, Ferry Sjaifullah as Head of the 2015-2019 SME Financing Division, Josef Agung Susanta as Head of the LPEI Surakarta Regional Office in 2016, Johan Darsono as Director of PT Mount Dreams Indonesia and Suryono as Director Jasa Mulia Indonesia, PT Mulia Swallow Indonesia and PT Borneo Wallet Indonesia.
